These little creatures got to run free ...
An interesting find at a 'harvest festival' - a cello orchestra! I think the lady at the back right, who looks like there's a pole growing out of her hat, is Amy LeBlanc of Whitehill Farm in East Wilton. I think she's the orchestra's leader. She grows the most fantastic heirloom vegetables & has had a lot of blue ribbons at the fair (see next photos). Prize peppers. Not the best photos, but a visual feast nonetheless. Not sure how that apple got in there ...Kayaking last weekend off of Simpson's point. It was a bit breezy, but not too choppy. Most of the photos I took while out in open water weren't very good, due to wave-wobble and sea spray, but here are a few. This first is entering a sheltered cove where we found respite from the wind for a few minutes.
My paddle-mates. The put-in is between them on the far shore. This island looked to me a bit like a listing schooner. A little cliff. The geology of the Maine coast is visually interesting, although I can't say I know a whole lot about it.This is Sewall Pond, on route 127 in Arrowsic. A vast sheet of perfect ice!
Yes, that is an iceboat in the distance. It was nearly flying it was moving so fast. And this is an icebike. Studded tires make it possible ... This fellow is drilling holes for ice fishing. Here are the icefishermen (boys) checking for fish. I guess this isn't what they were after ... it was frozen into the ice ... from a previous expedition, I suppose.
