Some images from the 2008 Common Ground fair. The things that interest me most are the animals and textiles - because they are so far beyond me - and the exhibits of prizewinning produce (which are impossible to photograph with my camera, like all of the cool small animals in cages). These guys are BIG.

I was riding my bike yesterday & this man was plowing the lower CSF field with his team of horses.
The sheep are out. And curious. These photos are from a trip to Crystal Spring Farm (CSF) last Saturday.
CSF is up high, but it's also flat at the top of the hill, so it's a great place for sunsets and moonrises.
We saw plenty of signs of wildlife on our skating expeditions, but the only actual wildlife we saw was an immature bald eagle gliding by. Here's a nest - osprey perhaps?
And a beaver lodge, of which we saw several, although we couldn't tell if there were any beaver around. Perhaps they had all been trapped. Even so, they'll be back.
The sun is so low in the sky, twilight starts before 4 pm. Here's last night's sunset - over Maquoit Bay. Low tide, about 4:15 pm.
And here's Crystal Spring Farm, with the recently bred ewes out in the snow. CSF, among other things, is used for breeding sheep from all over the east coast. The ewes are shipped, bred, brought to term, and then returned to their homes. The lambing in the spring is festive and fun. When I see this view at this time of year it reminds me of a photograph in the Bowdoin College Museum of Art of a gas station called "It Must be Winter, the Doors are Down."
I think this one is called a Red Admiral. He was on a plant in the back yard.
This guy sat in his tree house as if he were completely hidden for the whole time we looked at him, including photographing with a flash. I guess he was confident that we were either harmless or interested in something else.
